CBMM was the first mining and metallurgy company in the world to earn ISO 14001 certification. This accomplishment was the fruit of the company's voluntary implementation of an environmental management system that incorporated the sound environmental practices the company had implemented since the earliest days of operations. The company’s environmental management system is based on sustainable development practices and includes strict adherence to environmental legislation, continuous improvement of environmental performance, natural resource optimization and pollution prevention. Over 950 operational controls are in force related to environmental aspects of CBMM's activities.
Initiatives to improve the wellbeing of the Araxá community have always been an integral part of CBMM's strategic planning. Since its founding, CBMM has actively participated in urbanization, cultural, educational, health and environmental initiatives. The company's investments have contributed significantly to improvements in Araxá's quality of life over the last three decades.
CBMM recognizes that its highly trained, competent team of professionals is the company's most valuable resource. Ensuring workplace safety, a living wage and a comprehensive benefits package that values education, health and wellbeing are hallmarks of CBMM's long-standing approach to its employees and their families. As a consequence, CBMM has created a culture that values safety, quality and productivity.
